Frizz doesn’t stand a chance against the strong hold and curl-plumping properties of this silicone-free styling concentrate. Water-resistant, crisp definition locks in your style and delivers multi-day hair that can withstand the elements. Shine-enhancing botanicals, plant-derived proteins, and penetrating humectants mean your hair will feel as good as it looks. So put your hands in the hair and keep those curls where we can see them – this is a Hold Up™!
A silicone-free defining concentrate that softens and strengthens hair while offering strong hold and curl activation.
Fine to thick ‘wavys’ and ‘curlys’ who seek curl plumping, lift, and strong hold.
Quinoa Protein is a gluten-free source of eight essential acids that offer superior repair, hydration, and shine for the hair. Oat Protein plays a supporting role by penetrating the hair to deliver reduced breakage and enhanced softness. Click for a full list of ingredients.
Rake a small amount of serum through wet hair from roots to tips. (Note: we call it a ‘concentrate’ for a reason - a little goes a long way). To accentuate vertical lift, flip hair upside down and smooth product downwards, working from the crown to the ends of your hair. Allow hair to air dry or blow dry for extra volume.
To enhance in your natural curl pattern, apply Hold Up™ to wet, not damp, hair. Once you have achieved your desired style, avoid manipulating your hair until it is fully dry.
Because this product works by forming a film on the outside of the hair, we do not recommend it for low-porosity, tightly curled hair as this may lead to flaking and dullness. Instead, we recommend Just Gel™, which is non-flaking, softens hair and provides moderate hold.

Hold up Defining Serum: I just bought this product a week ago & I absolutely love it. The only other product I have used from Original Moxie is the Just Gel. I cannot get enough of that product either. I have thick, dry kinky curly hair. Today I am wearing day 3 hair and it still is curly and defined. The only thing that I might suggest is different scents. I am not a huge fan of the smell, but it is light. I will definitely deal with the smell for the way the product works! LOVE IT!

I have very fine, curly hair that is extremely dry and as a result very frizzy. Original Moxie products have completely changed this.
I use Hold Up on wet hair after OMG and Shape Shifter to seal my curls and form a cast whilst my hair dries. This keeps all the moisture in and once dry, I comb my hair to break the cast and have lovely soft bouncy curls.
I have medium length hair and only use an amount the size of a 10 pence piece (not sure of a US equivalent, sorry from Scotland but it isn't much at all). If I still find my hair is a little fluffy I use a tiny amount of Mane Tame which just melts into my hair beautifully!
I have also tried Just Gel and find Hold Up to be much better for my hair. If in doubt try the mini's, it's trial and error to start but it's 100% worth it.

I have 3c fine hair. I don't have as much as I used to or would like. I was getting really tired of my flat first and 2nd day hair. I wrote to Rachel giving her a list of my issues with my hair and a styling product. this had not come out yet a t the time but she said It should work great for my fine super curly hair. When i first tried it i was much too heavy handed and had too much hold. i didn't use it again for almost a year. So glad i splurged on the 16 oz. I love this stuff!! I only needed less than half what I was using per section. You get hold with softness, this gives me lift and volume on first day hair. And i love it!! Thanks Rachel!!

Love this product. Thought just gel product was fantastic but this one is just as awesome. I will have a hard time choosing which one to order next time I order. The only styling products that I will ever use on my hair. Great products. Thanks

For 40 years I have been using styling products for curly hair. This one stands out in terms of supporting curl, not creating fake, hard, shapes. I was given 2 samples and horded them while on a 2 week trip so I could use this product rather than my old one for special occasions. I had a package waiting for me when I returned home. I'm now eager to use the products I got in the mini-sample kit for curly hair. Also going to encourage my hairdresser to try this brand.

I have fine, frizzy, curls and have been waiting for this product! I was previous styling with Moxie Oasis, Mane Tame, Sweet Poof, and Just Gel. But this 1 product does it all! and better! Once I found the right amount (too little = frizz, too much = crunch), I got frizz free curls all day! Without drying out or weighing down my thin hair!
I apply when damp (I found it worked better than wet) about 3 nickel sized dollops roots to ends, comb through, then scrunch,. and diffuse the roots a bit for volume. Perfect curls all day! Even in a bit of rain! No multi day hair for me but may be for those with less porous hair! Get this great all-in-one product!!!

I've got thick, porous, color treated, wavy hair that cries for more protein. When I asked about products containing larger protein particles (like quinoa, oat and wheat) someone suggested the Hold Up Defining Serum. I've been using it for about 2 weeks on my hair & it really does love this stuff. I apply it to my freshly washed and still very wet hair. I find that it coaxes more curl out of my waves which I really like. It's light & not terribly sticky (tho it does get that way if you use too much.) I don't find it has a lot of hold for my hair in particular so I always put a firmer hold gel on top. But for it's curl enhancing properties on my hair, I'm officially a customer for life.

I have only been using it for a short time. But, I am already planning on ordering the 32oz. bottle. My hair has never come out better--I love that the serum goes on very light, but has very strong hold and a little does go a long way. I get no heavyness or stickyness like with most gels. This is the only product I am using now on day 1 hair. Also, wanted to thank "Curly Wavy Diane" for her wonderful reviews or I would never have known about "Original Moxies's" fantastic products! Please don't ever change it!!!
